The ITSEMC-2026 Doctoral Best Thesis Award recognises outstanding doctoral-level research in the areas of intelligent technologies, sustainable energy, and related electrical engineering disciplines — celebrating scholars who have made exceptional contributions to advancing the frontiers of knowledge.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility & Scope

Eligibility Criteria
01
The PhD degree must have been awarded by a recognised university in India or abroad during the period January 2022 – December 2025.

The applicant must be a registered participant of ITSEMC-2026 and must present a summary of their thesis research during the conference.

The thesis must be in a field relevant to the conference themes — primarily electrical engineering, power systems, energy management, or intelligent control.

Each candidate may submit only one thesis for consideration. Co-supervisors or guides cannot submit on behalf of the candidate.

Submission must include a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PhD-awarding university and the thesis supervisor.

How to Apply

Submission Guidelines

Applications must be submitted electronically to the conference secretariat by the stated deadline. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Format Requirements
1 Extended Abstract of the thesis — maximum 6 pages in the ITSEMC-2026 paper template (IEEE double-column format).
2 Thesis Summary Document — concise narrative (max 2000 words) covering motivation, methodology, key findings, and impact.
3 Presentation Slides — 10–12 slides (PDF format) for the 15-minute conference presentation.
4 All documents must be submitted in PDF format via the ITSEMC-2026 submission portal (CMT).
5 Extended abstract will undergo peer review before the application is shortlisted for presentation.
Evaluation Criteria
A Originality & Innovation — Novelty of the research problem addressed and the solution approach.
B Scientific Rigour — Quality of methodology, experimental validation, and depth of analysis.
C Impact & Applicability — Practical significance, potential for commercialisation, or policy relevance.
D Publication Record — Quality and quantity of journal/conference publications stemming from the thesis.
E Presentation Quality — Clarity, confidence, and quality of the 15-minute conference talk and Q&A.

How Winners Are Chosen

Selection Process

Application Submission
Candidates submit their extended abstract, thesis summary, supporting documents, and presentation slides via the CMT submission portal before the stated deadline.

Initial Screening
The Organising Committee verifies completeness of all submissions. Incomplete or non-compliant applications are rejected. Eligible submissions are forwarded for technical review.

Peer Review of Extended Abstract
Each submitted abstract is reviewed by at least two domain experts from the Technical Program Committee based on originality, rigour, and relevance. Top-scoring submissions are shortlisted for presentation.

Conference Presentation
Shortlisted candidates present a 15-minute talk followed by a 5-minute Q&A session before a panel of evaluators during the dedicated doctoral thesis session at ITSEMC-2026.

Panel Deliberation
The Award Evaluation Panel deliberates after all presentations, combining peer review scores and live presentation scores. Decisions of the Award Committee are final and binding.

Award Ceremony
Winners are announced and felicitated at the Closing Ceremony of ITSEMC-2026 on 12 December 2026. All awardees must be physically present to receive their prize, trophy, and certificate.
